My name is Sabine, some call me Bisa (thanks to my niece Ela). I was born in the year of the Dragon 1976 in Gelsenkirchen in – you might have guessed – lovely Germany.
After having spent a year in Galway/Ireland as an Erasmus student, I decided to look for employment in an English speaking country, due to a lack of suitable jobs in Ireland I ended up in England, but not just anywhere there, I’ve ended up in Cambridge. In my opinion one of the nicest towns that I’ve seen in Britain. But then I haven’t seen that many…
Anyway, I got stuck and lived there for 10 years till 2011. Recently, I decided it is time to make the big move back home to where my family is.
I had gone to Cambridge for work, initially I started out as Editorial Assistant in Electronic Publishing, after 5 years a redundancy made me go for a job in Financial Services in London. A year and a half later, I realised that commuting on British trains and dealing with City types isn’t for me, so I got a job back in Cambridge and worked as an Alliance Manager, again at the same electronic publishing company as before. That turned out not to be what I wanted and needed so went on to working as Product Manager at a company that distributes assistive technology to people with disabilities such as for example dyslexia.
Now that I am back in Germany, I am working as project manager again in a friendly company that does creative business development in Düsseldorf.
In my private life I am living happily in a lovely flat with Yogi, a little Border Terrier. I will be even happier when my boyfriend Ian has joined me here in our new home. He is currently still living in the UK.
I like walks in the countryside, shopping trips to town, going out for nice dinners and quiet nights at home on my comfy sofa.
I am a bit boring really, so bear with me…I try only to share the more interesting things with you here.
There won’t be blogging about physics or software development, literature or business. I am a jack of all trades, master of none, so I don’t really have any particular subject that I excel in.
I do enjoy beading and making jewellery in general, I am self-taught, so no courses or books for me for this one.
I like reading, but nothing too serious, my rule of thumb, if it is highly rated by reviewers – or worse – got an Orange Book price, I possibly won’t like it. This often works with movies as well, although I do like the odd acclaimed movie.
Photography is a big hobby of mine, again I rather improvise. But maybe one day I actually learn how to do it properly.
There we go, if you want follow my mad life as it unfolds on these pages.
Yours sincerely
Bisa
